Welcome to our private paradise on Barren River Lake.
Our rustic, hand-hewn log cabin is the perfect retreat for anyone needing a break from the mad rush of life without sacrificing the comforts of home. Surround yourself with the chirping of birds, the croak of frogs, and the song of the wind blowing through the trees. Spy on wildlife as they make their way down to the lake for a drink, or wend your way down the path to your own private shallow swimming beach and dock. Search for fossils along the beach, toss a line in for fish, or hop in your boat for a casual float around the lake.
Your closest neighbors lie across the lake, but you are still close to the conveniences of Walnut Creek Marina and Boat drop, and you are still within 5 miles of downtown Scottsville and the entrance to the Barren River State Park.
The accommodations include a 720 square foot cabin and a totally private acre of lake fronted forest. The cabin has one large bedroom area upstairs, featuring a queen size bed and a day bed with a trundle. We have one bathroom with a shower and tub. The small kitchen features full size appliances, and everything you need to cook and serve your meals. The main living area features leather and antique furniture, a stone fireplace with a propane log fire, a TV with basic cable, and high speed WIFI. There is a screened in balcony off the bedroom perfect for your morning coffee or evening reading nook, a wood deck off the back with year round views of the water (lake view from April through late October, creek view through the winter).
This is the perfect spot for a small family, a couple seeking a private week away, artists or authors seeking inspiration and solitude, or anyone just needing to get back in touch with nature.
We do not, however, recommend this rental for anyone with mobility limitations as there are rocky steps, stairs inside, and an unimproved forest trail down to access the lake.
There are no pets allowed at this property.
Please keep in mind that properties on the lake are on small septic systems. When we say this property is suitable for 4 people, that is really the maximum number of people the septic system can handle. Please do not plan large gatherings.

Summary: This is an authentic wood cabin, which was great. Perfect amount of space for us as a couple and even for our younger granddaughter who stayed one night. We absolutely loved that it was in the middle of so many trees with a view of the lake, and the wooden back deck and covered wooden front porch were the perfect place to enjoy those. Nice to have a small fire pit area and would enjoy using the dock sometimes with the lake is at a normal level. We would stay again :-). Appreciated the fact that they had dehumidifiers upstairs and downstairs, worked great.Also, host was responsive to questions!

Summary: The house and property were everything we hoped for. Rustic setting without close neighbors. It was very serene and relaxing. We were there after Kentucky had a bunch of flooding so the lake was quite high and was almost to the house so we didn’t utilize the water or the dock but did enjoy the view from the deck. We found the location to be great for adventuring to different areas for new experiences. Spent a day in Cave City/ Horse Cave. A day in Bowling Green. It was easy to get to Glasgow and Scottsville for supplies and meals (we only cooked breakfast at the house). We also went to Buccees for the first time, that was also easy to get to. We had no issues with the WiFi, was able to watch our Hulu at night. Loves our stay and would stay again if the opportunity arises.

Summary: We loved the cabin. Perfect getaway for my wife and I. Hope to visit again soon…. There are two dehumidifier’s that were not addressed in the rental agreement but we figured them out pretty quickly. Overall we loved our stay.

Summary: The remote cabin was rustic, private and just what we were looking for but there was an overwhelming smell in the cabin. I do not want to give a bad review because it was just as we expected and wanted but I have a very sensitive olfactory and asthma issues. We slept in the cabin one night as my lungs acclimated but the migraine started from the smell. It smelled of mold/mildew and I was very sensitive. We were very disappointed to not be able to stay our allotted time. The owners were very gracious about refunding our costs. I didn't ask, they volunteered the refund.

Summary: Secluded and peaceful property. Typical cabin in the woods feel to it. Really spacious for 2 adults. Entire cabin is on a pretty steep hill so be prepared for some excercise getting to and from the dock, its not terrible though. The property manager was very easy to contact and speak with for any issues that arose. All in all, we will definitely be back soon!

Summary: This cabin was a great getaway for my husband and I for a long weekend. We definitely enjoyed the scenery, peacefulness and views. It is very remote so make sure to bring all of your supplies with you!
